Prohibited Items for Shipping with MEXL International Courier

What Are Hazardous Items?

At MEXL International Courier, safety and compliance are our top priorities. Some items are classified as hazardous or dangerous and are prohibited from transportation through our services. Here’s a detailed overview to help you understand what you cannot ship:

Hazardous materials include:

  • Chemicals
  • Mixtures of substances
  • Manufactured products
  • Articles

These items may pose risks to people, animals, or the environment if mishandled during transport. While some of these products may seem harmless in everyday use, they can become dangerous when exposed to:

  • Unusual movements
  • Temperature fluctuations
  • Changes in atmospheric pressure

To ensure safety, these items must be clearly labeled if deemed dangerous.

Commonly Prohibited Items

Loose Lithium Batteries

Lithium batteries are highly volatile and can explode under heated conditions, leading to fires that are hard to control.

Aerosols

Defined as substances stored under pressure and released as sprays, aerosols may explode when exposed to high temperatures above 52°C.

Perfumes and Fragrances

Perfumes, aftershaves, and alcohol-based fragrances are restricted because alcohol is flammable. These items are often destroyed or returned if shipped.

Prohibited Items in India

Each country, including India, maintains a list of prohibited or restricted items.
  • How to Check? Refer to the Indian Central Board of Excise and Customs for the latest list of restricted goods.
When shipping to India, ensure your customs documentation is accurate.
This includes:
  • A clear description of packaged items
  • Declared total value
Customs authorities use this information to calculate applicable duties and taxes, which are collected by the destination country, not MEXL International Courier.

Why Are Some Items Prohibited?

  • Safety Concerns: Preventing harm to handlers and transport personnel.
  • Legal Compliance: Avoiding regulatory violations in destination countries.
  • Transit Delays: Reducing risks of delays caused by improper labeling or prohibited contents.

We strongly recommend reviewing this list of restricted or prohibited items to avoid issues with your shipment.

What Food Items Can I Send?

MEXL allows the shipment of non-perishable food items, provided they meet these criteria:

  • Safe and Secure Packaging: Food must be in secure and sealed packaging.
  • Homemade Products can be shipped internationally in secure and sealed packaging.
  • Untampered Seal: Packaging must remain intact and unopened.
  • Ingredient Label: A list of ingredients must be displayed on the packaging.
  • Shelf Life: Food must have a shelf life of more than six months from the date of shipping.

Note: Foods classified as perishables (less than six months of shelf life) are not accepted, even if store-bought.
